Alicia C. Pope, 89, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Born April 1, 1936, in Winnsboro, she was the daughter of the late Finous Coleman and Edna Spires Coleman.
Alicia was known for her generosity, fierce loyalty, and deep devotion to her family and church. She took special joy in welcoming new parents and their babies and was especially fond of greeting members and guests on Sunday mornings at church, where her warm smile made everyone feel welcome. Christmas was a treasured season in her home, filled with lights, gifts, and joyful gatherings.
She was a tremendous tennis player, snow skied quite well, and enjoyed staying active. Alicia and her husband, Bubba, shared a close and devoted marriage, traveling the world together and delighting in God’s creation.
Professionally, she served as bookkeeper and credit manager at Pope-Davis Tire, where her exceptional memory and dedication made her a valued employee. She retired after more than 22 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, William J. “Bubba” Pope, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Sandra Turner and Pat Porter; her brothers, Finous Coleman, Jr., and James Ronald “Jim” Coleman; and her beloved Boykin Spaniel, Blair, a three-time National Retriever Champion
