Columbia—Mrs.Betty M. Belcher, beloved wife of 57 years to Mr. Chester L. Belcher, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Born in Pineville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Hilda Laxton and Clarence Miller. She and her family moved to Columbia in 1979 after her husband, Chester, retired from The United States Air Force. She started her business career in South Carolina in commercial banking and then went on to become a staffing agency owner before her retirement in 1996. Although Mother had many hobbies, she derived the most joy from cooking family meals and taking care of her boys. Surviving by her husband, Chester L. Belcher ofColumbia, SC; her sons, Sam Belcher and Matt Belcher of Columbia, SC and her brothers; Donnie Miller of Eastover, SC and Jackie Miller of Gastonia, NC. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann W. Belcher, her son, Peter E. Belcher and her brother, Earl Pete Miller. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciate to all of our friends and neighbors for reaching out with their love and support during this difficult time.
