Betty Mae Garcia-Ruff

A Celebration of Life service for Betty Mae Garcia-Ruff, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Bush River Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Betty passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025. Born in Holly, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Elvis Cobb and Leola Joy Beer Cobb. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her large family. She shared many joyful years traveling with her husband, who was the love of her life, She loved her grandchildren without measure and took them to the beach for vacations many times. She loved having sleepovers and parties with them during their childhood. The planner of many events, Betty helped her family make many, many happy memories.

Mrs. Betty had a zest for life and is fondly remembered for her loving personality wherever she went in life. Her family considered her an amateur photographer, often taking pictures of her grandchildren and celebrating their every achievement. The walls of the family home are adorned with many photos of all the years of happiness her family had together. 

Mrs. Betty is survived by her loving husband of over 44 years, John D. Ruff; children, Mike Garcia (Trish), Shelly Tanner (Michael), Sheila Ruff Ernest (Eric), David Ruff, and Dina Ruff Bunke (Eric); grandchildren, Rachel Tian (Roger), Gracie Rorie, Lily Garcia, Isabel Garcia, Lauren Steyne (Joseph), Emily Lacomba, Madeline Bunke, Jessica Ruff, Grayson Tanner and Ellie Tanner; great-grandchildren, Violet and Woody; sisters, Shirley Korpi and Velma Slaven; brother, Leon Cobb; and her beloved fur baby, “Sweet Boy.”

She was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Doug Cobb.

The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the loving and caring staff at Fairforest Grove Senior Living and NHC Healthcare in West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
