Beverly J. Unger passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on July 12, 1940.
Beverly graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and retired as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina (now Prisma Health). Beverly was a devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Columbia Presbyterian Community, where she enjoyed making new friends. Her hobbies included playing the organ, making handmade cards, and faithfully serving her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Unger; her parents, Murray and Mary Slusarchuk; her brother, Murray A. Slusarchuk; her parents-in-law, Floyd and Orpah Unger; her sister-in-law, Kay (Unger) Jacobsen, and Kay’s husband, Bill.
Beverly is survived by her sister, Shirley Mitchell (Roger); nieces Kelly Dornan (Sean); Kim Pritchard (Shelton); Pam Mitchell (Gary); Kris Downs (David); nephew Brad Jacobsen (Renee); great-nieces Maya and Zoe Dornan; great-nephews Connor, Mitchell, and Liam Pritchard; and many other great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at The Columbia Presbyterian Community; 700 Davega Drive; Lexington, SC 29073, followed by a graveside service in the Memorial Gardens at Westminster Presbyterian Church; 1715 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
