Carolyn Weed McCartha

Carolyn Weed McCartha, 94, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, June 20th, 2025.

Born in Irmo, South Carolina, Carolyn graduated from Irmo High School and Columbia Commercial College with a secretarial degree. She was a long-life member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Carolyn was the church organist and Sunday School teacher for many years. She retired from Dutch Fork Baptist Church as a ministry assistant after 28 years and enjoyed substitute teaching and cafeteria monitor for many years after retirement.

Carolyn was a dedicated and devoted wife to the late Marvin McCartha, Sr. She was a loving mother to two sons preceding her in death - Marvin Jr. and Edward Michael (Connie). She is survived by her grandchildren who she loved dearly Christopher McCartha (Blair), Jason McCartha (Margaret), Jessica McCartha, Sara McCartha, Dustin McCartha (Erica), and Heather McCartha, along with 12 great-grandchildren and her precious nieces and nephews.

Carolyn's funeral will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 1541 Lake Murray Blvd, Columbia, South Carolina 29212 on Saturday, June 28th at 11:00am with the viewing at 10:00am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
