Clinton Lee Christian, 96, was born November 30, 1920 in Lafayette, IN. He passed away October 9, 2017 after a brief illness. For the past 5 years, Clint resided at Forest Pines retirement center in Columbia. Clint's mother(Jesse) died in childbirth. His father (Lee) placed him in an orphanage until he was 13. Despite these disadvantages, Clint graduated from Jefferson High school where he lettered in football and basketball. Five days after Pearl Harbor, Clint joined the Army Air Corps serving with distinction in India and China. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and was the recipient of the Bronze Star among other awards. After the war Clint married the late Loretta Kruk of South Bend, IN. They had two sons, James (Jean) and Christopher of Elkhart, IN. After Loretta passed away he married the late Betty Conklin whom he met while they were both employed with Indiana Bell Telephone. The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff at Forest Pines and to Clint's caregivers-- Deborah, Angela, and Mary. Final arrangements are pending with Temples-Halloran Funeral Home handling the details.
