A memorial service for Gary Warren Raymond, DDS, 73, of Lexington, will be held on Monday, February 28th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 6952 St Andrews Rd, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212, with Military Honors. The Reverend Dr. Dale Welden, Reverend Marc Rattray, and The Reverend Dr. Jason Hunt will officiate.The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Gary was born on May 11, 1948, in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Howard and Caroljean Bayless Raymond.He passed away on February 17, 2022.He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio, and proudly served in the US Army.Gary continued his education at Kent State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree and went on to Ohio State University School of Dentistry, graduating with the Class of 1981.Gary relocated to Columbia in June 1981 to set up practice and after 40 years of dedicated service, he retired in August of 2021. He enjoyed Ohio State Football, working on cars, and traveling.Gary was a member of the PCA - Porsche Club of America, Porsche 356 Registry Club, USTA Tennis Club, and Fort Jackson Golf Club.He was a past member of the Greater Columbia Dental Association.Gary was an avid reader and passionate about politics.He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Men’s Disciples Group, and sang in the choir.Gary was a happy, loving, caring man with an infectious smile who never met a stranger.He especially loved his dental patients. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Gladys Schaffer Raymond; son, Justin (Lara) Raymond; his brothers, James (Sandra) Raymond, Kirk (Chris) Raymond, and Marlan (Sue) Raymond; and his sister Eunice Hamric (Russ).Gary has numerous loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his brother, David Raymond.
