COLUMBIA—A memorial service for Gene E. Wildermuth, 72, of Columbia, SC will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Grace Point Presbyterian Church, 411 Western Lane, Irmo, SC 29063. The Reverend Keith Kneeshaw will officiate. The family will greet friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.Temples Halloran Funeral Home is assisting the family. Gene, beloved husband of Ellie Wildermuth, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.Born and raised in East Moline, IL, Gene was the son of the late Alvin Wildermuth and Jennie Lewis Wildermuth. Gene graduated from United Township High School, East Moline, IL where he was a Cross Country Track Star breaking state records. He was an Elder, a Sunday School Teacher and served on the Building Committee at Elim Covenant Church, Moline, IL. Gene retired from Carver Pump Company after 17 years of dedicated service. He and his wife loved to travel and enjoyed black and white photography. Gene was an avid White Sox and Bears Fan and later became a Gamecocks fan. Gene was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Surviving in addition to his wife of 35 years, Ellie of Columbia; daughters, Kelli Vos (Scott)of Cumming, GA and Melissa Akali (Emmanuel) of Mableton, GA; step-daughter, Chris Carlson (Jeff) of Columbia, SC; sixteen grandchildren; sister, Karen Ells of Bettendorf, IA.Gene was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Dora Wildermuth, step-father, Louis Day and brother, Keith Wildermuth.
