COLUMBIA—James Ervin Satterfield, 83, of Columbia died Tuesday, February 24, 2015.Born May 1, 1931, in Woodruff, SC, he was the son of the late Rev. D.W. Satterfield and Annie Lou Black Satterfield.He proudly served in the U.S. Naval Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Satterfield attended Furman University and was a graduate of North Greenville Jr.College.He retired as a Marketing Representative with Exxon in 1982. He was a long time member of St. Andrews Baptist Church and the Bible Fellowship Sunday School Class.He was a former Sunday School teacher and served on various committees.He was a member of the Exxon Annuitants Club. James is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Jean Williams Satterfield; three loving daughters, Debra Williams (John), Donna Newton, and Susan Wingard (Warren) all of Columbia. In addition he is survived by grandchildren, Leigh Hilton (Ric), Adam Williams (Lauri), Wesley Beck, Whitney Cates, (Tony), Melanie Wells (Kenyon), and Jay Wingard (Emily), and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Satterfield.Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Donald Satterfield. He was devoted to his wife and family and will be greatly missed. The service of worship for Mr. Satterfield will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210.Dr. Ronald “Dee” Vaughan will officiate.Grandson Adam Williams will also participate in the service.The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.Burial will be at Bush River Memorial Gardens following the service.Temples Halloran Funeral Home will be assisting the family.His grandsons will be the pallbearers. The Satterfield Family would like to thank Dr. Eddie Williams III and Dr. Michael Foster along with the staff at Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge, for the wonderful care extended during Mr. Satterfield’s time of illness.
