Joseph Frank Quinn

March 15, 1940 — January 27, 2016

Growing up in Union Springs, NY, Joe was very active on his High School and church basketball teams.He was an outgoing young man and had many friends and enjoyed recalling some of the antics they participated in.Joe served for many years in the National Guard.After a short time in the corporate world, Joe realized that he wanted to be his own boss.His drive to be an entrepreneur led him to work over 30 years in the pipeline welding industry in both Florida and upstate New York.Joe was a pioneer in the rescue/restore/recycle trend by buying and selling used tools and equipment.He taught his children about business, and the joy in being able to provide for their families.Through the years, Joe also ran successful construction and roofing businesses, again incorporating his children and family into each one. Some of Joe’s fondest memories were of teaching adult Sunday School and sharing his love of the Lord with other people.He was a devout Christian and active as a leader in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church while living in Florida and New York.After moving to SC, Joe was active with the Chapin United Methodist Church.He was a proud father and grandfather and loved his family. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 53 years, Janet L. Quinn of Little Mountain; daughters, Ann Louise Mastroberti (Gary) of Simpsonville and Suzanne Lee Pottorff (Pastor Edmund) of Jasper, GA; sons, Douglas Mark Quinn (Karen) of Little Mountain and Gregory George Quinn (Nichole) of Boston, MA; sisters, Joann Fallon, Marilyn Proulx (Louis) and Ester Lukins; brothers, Larry Quinn (Janet), Tim Quinn (Barbara) and Jim Quinn (Karen); grandchildren, Deanna Blackwell (Scott), Danielle Pottorff, Ella Jo Mastroberti and Colton Joseph Quinn; along with his beloved family pets, Bitsy and Mr. Bean.Joseph was preceded in death by twin sister, Janet and a brother John Thomas Quinn. Funeral services for Joseph F. Quinn, 75, of Little Mountain, SC will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 a Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Ave., Chapin, SC 29036; inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Chapin United Methodist Building Fund, 415 Lexington Ave., Chapin, SC 29036 or to Pawmetto Lifeline, 1275 Bower Pkwy, Columbia, SC 29212.
