With deep sorrow and grateful hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Josephina Naa Dodua (Joseline) Ribeiro-Mensah on May 31, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina, surrounded by her devoted family. She was 79 years old. Her presence brought light and love to all who knew her. Mrs. Ribeiro-Mensah will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family, friends, and community. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
The late Mrs. Ribeiro-Mensah, born on January 21, 1946, and called to rest on May 31, 2025, was the cherished daughter of Mr. Jose Francisco Ribeiro and Mrs. Susana Naa Amanua Ribeiro, both of blessed memory.
Her educational journey began at St. Mary’s Primary School. She later attended Bishop Girls School, where she earned her high School Certificate and served as Senior Prefect. Driven by a passion for teaching, she continued her studies at St. Monica’s Teachers Training School in Mampong, Ashanti Region.
Upon completing her training, she began her teaching career at 28th February Road Girls School and later transferred to Mamprobi Sempe Girls Primary School. After some time, she chose to leave the teaching profession and joined her late husband in managing his clothing business.
In 1974, Mrs. Mensah relocated to Worcester, Massachusetts, in the United States, where she worked alongside her husband in their Janitorial Services business. The couple later moved to Northern Virginia in 1986, continuing their business until retirement. After retiring, they returned to Ghana for a time. Following her husband’s passing, she moved back to the United States, residing with her daughter Augusta Mensah in Columbia, South Carolina, until her passing..
Mrs. Mensah was a woman of many talents, known for her love of cooking, baking, and knitting. She cherished her family and maintained close bonds with her siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her kindness, passion, and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She is survived by 4 siblings, 7 children, 19 grandchildren, 5great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
