IRMO—A Mass of Christian Burial for June Marie Bastin Strain, 90, of Irmo will be at10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 195 Amicks Ferry Road, Chapin, SC 29036.Father John Murray will officiate.Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clyde Strain, Bob Strain, Bruce Strain, Randy Horton, Tom Reed and Robert Godsey. June, beloved wife of 66 years to the late Col. Clyde William Strain (Ret.), passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016.Born in River Rouge, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Steve Martinand Beatrice Bastin Martin. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.She graduated from Mercy Hospital Nursing Program, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio worked as a registered nurse. Upon marriage to the love of her life, she took on the most important career of all, being a wife, mother and grandmother.Lived abroad in Germany and Japan while her husband served 30 years in the military.They retired to Chapin, SC to live on the lake.June was very active with her children and grandchildren.She loved opening up her home and entertaining many friends and family. Surviving are her daughters, Deborah S. Horton (Randy) of Irmo, Gail M. Reed (Tom) of Irmo and Carol A. Godsey (Robert) of Duluth, GA; sons, Clyde D. Strain (Sandra) of Sumter, Bruce W. Strain (Ellen) of Herndon, VA and Robert W. Strain of Waycross, GA; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, and her parents.
