Karen Elaine Mann passed away peacefully at Lexington Hospital on January 11, 2026. She was a resident of Whitehall in Lexington County, SC. Karen was born on October 25, 1956, in Columbia, SC, at the Moncreif Army Hospital at Ft. Jackson. She was born to Robert Allan and Margaret Hinson Mintz. She was the oldest of four girls.
Karen had such a caring, gentle spirit that loved her animals. She held several different jobs, but her favorite by far was her job at the Wildlife Center. Many of her hours there were volunteer, because she did it for the animals. Anyone who knew her, knew she loved her animals, especially her cats. At one time, she had 16 cats in the house. She was such an animal lover that she would not let you kill a fly or ant. She did not have children; her long living, 22-year-old cat, named “Apollo” was her baby. She had the same passion for animals of any kind.
I will always remember her love for her “Gamecocks” as well. She loved Carolina Football, Girl’s & Boy’s basketball and Carolina baseball. If you called her during a game, you did not get an answer.
Karen is survived by her husband, Clarence Mann of Columbia; sisters, Kathy (Willie) Hill of Columbia; Kimberly Shythe of Lexington; and Kristy Myers of Anderson. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel on January 19, 2026, with visitation prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
