Mr. Kerry Emerson Way of Lexington, South Carolina passed away, sudden but peacefully on July 5, 2025 while sailing on Lake Murray. Known for his big smile and love for Jesus, Kerry always brought joy to every person he met.
Born November 8, 1952 to John Edward Way, Sr. and Elizabeth Way (née Richards) in Morristown, TN, Kerry graduated from Mars Hill University with a degree in Business Administration. Led by his interest in technology (and tinkering!), he worked in the technology services field throughout his career. He was a devoted deacon and Sunday School teacher. He freely shared the gift of music, and passed his free time with “project” cars and motorcycles, camping and sailing with friends and family, and home improvements one after another. He always left things better off than he found them.
Kerry was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Richards Way; father, John Edward Way, Sr.; and two brothers, Mark Randall Way and Deforest Richards Way. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rhonda Way; son Adam (Lauren) Way of Lexington, SC; daughter Rebecca (Semih) Sendur of Summerville, SC; daughter Katherine (Brandon) Keys of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren, Emerson Keys, Sadie Way, Isaac Sendur, Eirin Keys, Davis Way, Connor Keys, and Abigail Sendur; two sisters, Cindy Way Blue of Wilmington, NC and Dawn Way of Lexington, SC; brother, John Edward Way, Jr. of Knoxville, Tennessee; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at noon on Saturday July 12, 2025 at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, with a private committal to follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kerry’s honor to The Ezekiel Ministries after school project.
