COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Margaret C. Lowery, 94, of Columbia, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Entombment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the funeral home. Mrs. Lowery, beloved wife of 60 years to the late Martin H. Lowery, Jr. who passed away September 2010.Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 25, 2015.Born in Batesburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joe C. Barr and Bernice Clark. She was a 1940 graduate of John DeLa Howe High School in McCormick, SC.She was employed by Bell Telephone Company after graduation and later worked in retail.After their children were born, she became a homemaker. Margaret was a member of St. Andrews Baptist church in Columbia, SC. Prior to her decline in health, she was secretary and an active member of her Sunday School Class, calling on and checking on church members.Prayer was a very important part of her life. She loved flower arranging and was an active member of the Mixed Bouquet Garden Club.She was often found working in her yard with her flowers.She loved talking to people and traveling cross-country with her husband in their RV. She was very devoted and committed to her husband and family. She was kind and compassionate and always put her family first.She strongly believed in being positive in every situation. Her favorite poems were “The Serenity Prayer” and “Footprints in the Sand”. Surviving are her daughters, Diane L. Brown and husband, Gerald of Camden, Dale L. Wright and husband, Bill of Walker, LA; grandsons, Robby W. McKnight and wife, Shayna, David A. McKnight and wife, Nicole, Jeff Wright and wife, Molly and Tim Wright; great-grandchildren, Jacob McKnight, Jordan Kisielewski, Eli Rodriguez, Maven McKnight and Carolina McKnight. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin H. Lowery, Jr. and 2 sisters, Katie Lou and Helen; 2 brothers, Wilbur and Andrew.
