LEXINGTON—Dr. Margaret “Peggy” Gredler passed away on August 23, 2018. She was born on April 9, 1933 in Philippe, West Virginia, parents of the late Waitman and Ethel Gall. Peggy was a strong, funny woman and gave great advice.She believed in and loved her family fiercely.She taught us all life lessons to the end and she is already deeply missed. She graduated from Florida State University in 1971 and was a Professor of Education Psychology and Research at University of South Carolina for 38 years - known for her pink office.She was a prolific author in Education Research and Program Evaluation.She was a participant/co-chair on National Council on Measurement in Education. Peggy was a South Carolina Delegate at the 1992 Democratic National Convention.She was a champion for Women’s rights, Emily’s list contributor, Metropolitan Opera patron and loved solving New York Times crossword puzzles on a Sunday afternoon. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Lee Bell Clayton and son-in-law Dan Clayton; sister, Alice Cronkhite and husband, Gene Cronkhite; son-in-law, Charles Daniel Ross; grandson, Charles Michael Ross and wife, Christy Michele Ross; granddaughter, Marie Danielle Fordham and husband, Clif Fordham; great-grandchildren, Coleton Ross Fordham, Caroline Pinney Fordham and Frances Margaret Fordham. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Margaret Lynn Ross and her husband, Gilbert Gredler. In honor of Peggy’s wishes, there will be no funeral.A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be announced at a later date.
