Richard “Rick” Wayne Rodden, 72, passed away on Monday, August 26. He was a loving husband, incredible father and an overall gentleman. He was passionate about all things in life and never had a lack of interests. He was devoted not only to his family but to others in the community. He was a gentle soul and always offered whatever assistance to anyone he could. Funeral service will be private. Rick was a graduate of University High School and a graduate of USC. He started his career with the South Carolina Department of Archives. He was an active member of the South Carolina State Guard and a volunteer at the State Military Museum. He loved animals, nature and traveling. Rick retired asRegister of Deeds for Richland County Government, after retirement, he dedicated his time to substituting in Lexington School District One. In his free time, he taught himself guitar. He always dreamt of living in the mountains and would oftentimes visit with his wife. Finally, on Monday, the mountains were calling, and he had to go. Rick was survived by his wife, Kathryn Rodden, his son, Patrick Rodden, step-father, John “Cy” Szakacsi, his brother-in-law, Don Saxon, his sister-in-law, Patsy Saxon, and his two nephews, Bryan Saxon and Deryll Saxon and their families.
