Columbia, SC —A graveside service for Ronald E. Arcury, 87, of 1805 Woodtrail Drive, Columbia, SC, will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Arcury passed away on November 16, 2014. Born in Windgap, PA, he was the son of the late Peter P. Arcury and Louise Cortez Arcury.He proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 30 years. .He retired from the Army on April 30, 1980 as a Chief Warrant Officer W4.He earned the National Defense Service Medal (1 OLC); Vietnam Campaign Medal w/DVC60; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC); Meritorious Service Medal (3D OLC); Armed Forces reserve Medal (2D AWD); Army of Occupation Medal (Japan); Meritorious Unit Commendation; and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation; Joint Service Commendation Medal; United Nations Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Service Star and 1 Bronze Service Star; Korean Service Medal w/ 4 Bronze Service Stars; World War II Victory Medal; and a Good Conduct Medal w/2 Loops.After his retirement he spent many of his days playing golf with his late wife, Julie. He also enjoyed his days hunting with his many friends at Charaketo Hunt Club. Surviving are his sons, Ronald E. Arcury, Jr. and wife Kara L. of Charlotte, NC and Edward V. Arcury of Columbia, SC; grandson, Ronald E. Arcury III.Those who preceded him in death included his beloved wife of 59 years, Julie S. Arcury.
