Prosperity—Funeral services for Russel Lynn Savitz, 81, of Prosperity, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210,with the Reverend Dr. William “Bill” Paulling and Reverend Ronald “Dee” Vaughan officiating. Pallbearers will be his three grandchildren and three grandsons-in-law, David, Daniel, Jake, Joey, Andrew and Michael. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC.The family will greet friends 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. in the chapel prior to the service at the church.Temples Halloran Funeral Home is assisting the family. Mr. Savitz, beloved husband of Edith Savitz passed away Friday, May 27, 2016.Born in Emmaus, PA on December 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Donald Alfred Savitz and Anna Groff Savitz.He was a graduate of George Washington University with a degree in Accounting. Mr. Savitz began his career with the FBI in Washington, DC, where he also met his wife, Edith. He served with the FBI for over 33 years retiring in Columbia, SC. While working for the FBI he was Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent in the White Collar Crime Squad. Following his retirement with the FBI he pursued a career in Commercial Real Estate. Russ was formerly a Deacon at St. Andrew’s Baptist Church, volunteered his time with Habitat for Humanity as well as Camp Kemo. Russ will be remembered as a very generous and giving individual with the highest level of integrity.He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed various building and woodworking projects and a man who cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. At their lake home, he lovingly cared for hummingbirds and ducks. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 61 years, Edith G. Savitz of Prosperity; daughters, Kim S. Oswalt (David) of Batesburg and Kathy S. Jennings (Michael) of Columbia; son, Russel L. Savitz, Jr. of Columbia; brothers, Donald A. Savitz, Jr. (Theresa) of Palm Coast, FL and Burt Lee Savitz (Betty) of Manheim, PA; grandchildren, Jennifer Rhoades (Joey), David Oswalt, Jr. (Kaitlin), Daniel Oswalt (Amanda), Ashley Eckenbrecht (Andrew), Kristin Allison (Michael), Jessie Baughman and Jake Baughman; 3 great-granddaughters, Ava, Adi and Sallie Eve along with one great-grandson, his buddy, Henry B. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Karen S. Baughman. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Mt.
