COLUMBIA—The graveside service for Samuel Harkness Bailey, Jr. 66, of Columbia will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.Temples Halloran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in Richmond County, NC on July 6, 1949, he was the son of the late Samuel H. Bailey, Sr. and Ruth Wiggins Bailey.He proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Saratoga.He was award the National Service Defends Metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal, with device and Navy Unit Commendation. Sam graduated from the A. C. Flora High School and the USC with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was retired from the V. C. Summer Nuclear Plant and later came back as a consultant for the plant. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Debra Fussell Bailey of the home, one daughter, Lauren Alexis Bailey, one brother, George Walters (Lucy) of Columbia, as well as 3 nieces.
