COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Thomas “Gus” Augustus Bradley, Sr., 78, of Columbia, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 3200 Lyles Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Temples Halloran Funeral Home is assisting the family. Gus Bradley, beloved husband of Patsy, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Born in Danville, VA, he was the son of the late Augustus Bradley and Annie Leake Dibble Bradley of Orangeburg, SC.He proudly served in the United States Army. Gus was agraduate of The Citadel in 1961 and later received his masters degree from The University North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1971.He was a retired educator and taught school for over 30 years in the Columbia area. He was a member of the St. Andrews Lions Club for over 20 years and a member of St. Mark’s UMC, where he taught the Garver Johnson Sunday school class and Gus was a member of the 39 plus club at the church. He loved swimming at the YMCA and the Harbison Recreation Center.He and Patsy loved going to the Chick-fil-A on St. Andrews Road where they thought of staff as their own family.Mr. Bradley loved calling, checking-up on his friends and sending hand-written notes to cheer them up. Surviving in addition to his wife of 50 years, Patsy Bradley; daughter, Patricia Bradley-Bock (Joseph) of Concord, NC; son, Thomas Augustus Bradley, Jr. (Tona) of Moncks Corner, SC;grandchildren, Miriam Grace Bock, Julia Elizabeth Bock, Thomas Augustus Bradley III and Melany Ann Bradley; sister, Ann Bradley Biggers (Rennie) of Charlotte, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church, 3200 Lyles Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
