Thomas Walter Hinson died after a courageous fight with Alzheimer’s on August 31, 2024. He was 82 years old and had resided at CM Tucker Veterans Home for the last 4 years. He was the son of Raymond and Ollie Mae Hinson. Tom was an Air Force Veteran, worked in construction and retired from Meade WestVaco paper mill in Charleston, SC, after 27 years as an electrician. He was married for 37 years to his wife, “Baby Doll” Bonnie. Tom loved NASCAR, fishing, scuba diving, metal detecting and hanging out in his “Man Cave.” Tom is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, of the home; his sister, Bonnie (Howard) Gramling and family; his sister-in-law, Sally Hinson and family; his granddaughter, Lauren (Drew) Hadwin; and great-grandchildren, Bentley, Lucie, and Cyrus Hadwin; his stepdaughter, Jamie (David) Buckland; and grandsons, Peyton and Brandon Buckland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ollie Mae Hinson Quigley and Raymond Hinson; stepfather, Fred Quigley; stepmother, Annie Rose Hinson; son, Ray Hinson; daughters, Laura Hinson-Zilker and Tammy Hinson; sisters, Debbie Sauls and Carole (Hinson) Duncan; and one brother, Andrew Hinson. There will be no service and donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (140 Stoneridge Drive, #640, Columbia, SC 29210 or Donate) to continue finding a cure for the dreadful disease.
