Thomas Summers Shuler, 62, passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2025.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home. A reception will follow the committal service, also at the funeral home.
A Columbia native, he was born on December 7, 1962, to Thomas Clark Shuler and Rachel Meares Shuler. Thomas was the recipient of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina where he remained “Forever to Thee” cheering on Gamecock sports especially football and basketball. He currently served as a Senior Solution System Designer at Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he had been employed since 2000.
Thomas will be remembered as a gentle, generous, and kind-hearted man, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and unwavering devotion to family. He took great joy in grilling for family dinners and coordinating the Shuler family reunions. Thomas especially loved traveling with his wife and held a special place in his heart for their trips to Disney World. His dogs, Maribelle and Kopi, brought him endless happiness, and his life was one he truly enjoyed and appreciated every day.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Clark Shuler and Rachel Meares Shuler. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Betty Cheung; a daughter, Megan Shuler; sister, Anne Youngblood; nephew, Kyle Youngblood (Ashlynne) and multiple extended family members.
