Alice “Virginia” Browning, 90, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025.



Born on April 9, 1935, in Latta, South Carolina to the late Thomas Freeman and Ida Mae Byrd George. Virginia dedicated her life to caring for others, both in her nursing care and home life. Outside of her profession, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, a skilled Southern cook, and provided a haven for all of the cats in need.



Above all, Virginia adored her family. She took immense pride and pleasure in caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Through her boundless love and support, she earned the title “best Mama ever”. Her legacy of nurturing and devotion will be deeply missed.



Virginia is survived by her husband of 69 years, Walter Beyard Browning; her daughters, Debbie Browning (Roland Weiskittel), Donna Kirkpatrick, and Sharon Cogdill (Garry); her grandchildren, Courtney Macecevic, (Will), Colt Kirkpatrick(Katie), Taylor Wilbanks Weiskittel (Brandon), Kirstin Bradley(Trevor), Colby Kirkpatrick, Carly Kilpatrick, Kendal Weiskittel, Mia Cogdill and Blake Weiskittel(Andie). She's preceded in death by her twin sister, Letha Watson(Jakie, Jr.).



The family wishes to thank Virginia’s dedicated caregivers for their exceptional care and kindness over the years.



In accordance with her wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to a Cat Rescue of your choice.
