Ward Pearce Johnson, 82, of Columbia, passed away on May 1, 2024, at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Robert Fuller Johnson and Mary Pearce Johnson. Ward was a graduate of Dreher High School and the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration. Ward worked at Jim Hudson Automotive Group for 20 years. He went back to school and earned his associate degree in Computer Technology, and retired from DHEC as a computer programmer analyst. Ward was an avid golfer and a member of Golden Hills Golf and Country Club. He was a proud father of two daughters and a son, six granddaughters and two great granddaughters. He loved taking credit for their good looks. Ward was quick witted and always found the humor in almost every situation. Ward is survived by his wife of 49 years, Debbie Dimmery Johnson; his daughters Chapin J. Dean (Andy) and Louise J. Rex (Adam); and his son Matthew W. Johnson (Amy). He is also survived by his grandchildren, McKenzie Gregory (Lee); Madison Reid (Justin); Hannah Williams (Matt); Haley Mauldin; Olivia Rex; and Harper Grace Johnson; and his great-grandchildren, Marley Mae Reid and Madeline Gregory. Ward was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Eleanor Blizard; and his in-laws, Dot and Bill Dimmery.
